Ready for more Sip and Stitch yarn pairings? This week we’ve got a beer from one of my favorite breweries: Great Notion. Luminous 5 is the fifth in a series of sour IPA’s; the predecessor, Luminous 4, was one of the best beers I’ve ever tasted!

Yarn:
Pop a Wheelie in Squish DK

As you can see, Great Notion has some amazing art on their labels. This art requires an equally amazing yarn to be paired with! After searching through tons and tons of yarn, a perfect match emerged: Pop a Wheelie by Spun Right Round. Those beautiful blue, green, yellow, and rusty tones were all there. When looking for yarn, I wanted something that included a large amount of neutral tones to complement the can itself. Neutral tones with speckles in those exact colors was not an easy thing to find, but we lucked out!

Luminous 5 is a sour IPA with passion fruit, dragon fruit, and vanilla. The vanilla is subtle and rounds out the sour notes very nicely. In my previous experience, passion fruit and dragon fruit presented on the sweeter side. I loved seeing the sour side of these fruits! For those of you who are wary of the IPA on the label: don’t be! The bitter, hoppy flavor that resides in a majority of IPA’s isn’t found in Luminous 5. Instead I found just a teensy bit of hoppy, funky flavor at the end of the sour notes. It was a fantastic not-too-sour IPA.
